Coming to PRIME
Clients arrive at PRIME beginning at 10 a.m. PRIME has a contract with the transportation company, Vital Transit, that will provide you with door-to-door transportation to and from PRIME. Vital Transit is trained to handle a variety of special needs. PRIME staff will meet you at the van to escort you in. Upon arrival at PRIME there is coffee time where you will be served refreshments and will have an opportunity for conversation. We have two arrival times to choose from: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Our walking track opens at 10:30 a.m. followed by a fitness program at 11:15 a.m. until noon. The program incorporates strengthening, flexibility and stretching exercises designed for individuals of all physical capabilities while sitting in a chair. The walking track remains open all day which clients are encouraged to use.
Clients also sometimes have appointments during their day at PRIME, such as meeting with one of the staff or having specific examinations or medical tests.
From 12-1 p.m. clients are offered a hot lunch and dessert – this is included in the PRIME monthly excluded services fee – and many special diets can be accommodated.
Medical Clinic operates each afternoon 1-3 p.m. Clients are booked regular appointments as well as additional appointments when needed. From 1-3 p.m. clients also have a few different recreational activities to choose from. A wide variety of physical activities are offered. A few examples are bowling, horse shoes and basketball shots. For those who prefer, we also offer a selection of sit down activities, such as discussion groups on current topics, travelogues or painting classes. In addition, PRIME also has special events such as concerts, presentations and parties.
Clients can choose to depart from PRIME at either 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. The Vital Transit bus provides door to door transportation. PRIME staff escorts each client out their assigned bus for transport home.
