Diagnostic Imaging at Misericordia Health Centre offers a variety of diagnostic services to our own residents and patients, as well as patients referred by private practitioners.
X-rays have been available at Misericordia Health Centre for over 80 years. An X-ray is one of the fastest ways for a physician to see structures of the body including bones and internal organs. About 20,000 X-ray procedures are performed at the Misericordia Health Centre annually. MHC does everything from still image X-rays to specialized CT scans that show a combination of bone, blood vessels and soft tissue.
Ultrasound is used extensively for obstetrical and gynecological information and the evaluation of the abdomen area, in particular for imaging the kidneys, liver, and pancreas.
Cardiology (ECG or EKG)
Electrocardiograms (electrical recording of the heart), Ambulatory Blood pressure monitoring, and Holter monitoring procedures (24-hour continuous recording of the heart) are conducted in the Cardiology area of Diagnostic Imaging.
