Education

As an evolving research and teaching centre, Misericordia is proud to be affiliated with various educational organizations, including the universities of Manitoba, Winnipeg and Brandon, as well as colleges and learning centres in Winnipeg. Our specialist physicians, nurses and allied health-care professionals provide person-centred care and conduct research while giving future health-care professionals hands-on training. Some of our professionals hold joint appointments with the universities.

Student Placement
Misericordia Health Centre co-ordinates student placement in collaboration with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. More than 178 university and college students trained with us in 2015 -2016 for more than 22,562 hours – from physiotherapists to paramedics to dietitians.

Education Funds
There are a variety of funding opportunities available to Misericordia staff – from scholarships to education funding and more.”

Misericordia School of Nursing graduates can apply for a Misericordia School of Nursing Education Award of up to $1,000 if enrolled in a nursing program. Applications are due by March 31 annually.

General Orientation
A comprehensive general orientation takes place six times a year for new staff members. We encourage the attendance of current staff members who wish to review specific areas.
