Misericordia Heritage Collection
Misericordia Heritage Collection is a living, vibrant celebration of the history of Misericordia Nurses’ Alumni, the Misericordia General Hospital School of Nursing and the Misericordia Health Centre and its predecessors.
Thanks to the generous donations of alumni and others, our original Heritage Room has grown to become a treasure chest of memorabilia. It contains nurses’ exams and textbooks from the early 20th century, nurses’ uniforms and pins throughout the years, and photographs of nursing students at different events. It also contains hospital china from the Depression years, equipment used by physicians and nurses in years gone by, and scrapbooks kept by nursing students throughout their nursing education.
Misericordia Nurses’ Alumni and Misericordia Health Centre continue to work together to find ways of creating an archival collection that will be readily accessible. The Heritage Planning & Policy Committee, consisting of representatives of the Alumni and Misericordia Health Centre, is developing ways to inventory, store and display these artifacts so that our history can be truly appreciated.
