1. Do I have to pay for PRIME?

Yes, a fee will be determined based on your annual income. You do not pay for your health care, but you do pay for the excluded services not provided by Manitoba Health such as a portion of the transportation cost.

2. Do I have to be a certain age to enroll?

Yes, 65 or older.

3. Is PRIME a personal care home?

No, PRIME is an alternative to a personal care home. Clients do not stay overnight. PRIME is a day program.

4. What if I am experiencing a problem when PRIME is closed?

PRIME has an after-hours nurse who can be reached by telephone in the evenings, weekends and on statutory holidays. If necessary the nurse will come to your home to provide you with assessment and treatment. In an emergency, call 911.

5. Do I have to come to PRIME every day?

No, you can attend from one to five times per week. You are required to come at least once a week.

6. What kind of transportation does PRIME provide?

Clients can choose to be picked up from their homes to go to PRIME at 10 or 11 a.m. and they can choose to depart from PRIME to go home at 2 or 3 p.m. Transportation is provided by Blueline Transit. Wheelchair accessible buses are used.
